one word

the one word that sums up my spring break is laundry. not very exciting. with the whole lice thing i must have done 40 loads easy and then another 10 of just regular stuff. i am glad to say the kids are "bug free." i did get in some much needed spring cleaning. i remember when spring break meant so much more. that's ok. now i got to spend a lot of time with the kids and val. i wouldn't change a thing!

what a wednesday!

val took the day off and we headed to the san francisco zoo. it had been 15 years since val and i had last been there and the kids had never been. the weather was perfect for our visit. we walked around for over 3 hours seeing all the animals. the giraffes were the first animals to see; we made our way through the crowd of people watching the giraffes "give piggy back rides" and we even saw a baby giraffe. some of our favorites to see--anteater, polar bears, gorillas, penguins, and koalas.
watching the penguins swim in the water was fun.

after the zoo we headed to pier 39 for lunch at the hard rock cafe. on the way, we went down lombard street for kaleigh to see how crazy that was. we fit in with all the other tourists that were either taking pictures of it or walking/driving down it. i videotaped our trip down but i had trouble loading it. kaleigh had really wanted to go to alcatraz but we got there too late...another day we'll go.
a few sea lions soaking up the warm sunshine. they were very noisy!
we had a great time in the city. we definitely were tired by the time we got home. the kids slept in 'til 9:30 this morning. nice!!!

happy easter!

the kids were thrilled to find these easter goodies on their beds in the morning.

"this was the best easter ever!" according to kaleigh. we started the morning with a scavenger hunt for the kids which led to their easter surprise--baskets filled with toys and goodies. the first of three egg hunts happened next in our jammies and tennies of course! connor knew what to do this year which was too cute. he kept saying, "another egg" as he put them in his bucket. kaleigh had her sights set on as many eggs as she could find; which was a lot!! we had brunch at grandma mimi's and pop pop's house and had the second egg hunt...way too many eggs! by the time we went to grandma lydia's house we all were so tired, except for kaleigh, who was determined to find more eggs. once we got home, val, connor and i crashed on the couch while kaleigh played with all her new toys. what a great day!

spring break '08!! woohoo!!

that's what i'd like to be saying but that's not happening yet. my spring break started a day early (usually that would be great but it's not) because kaleigh awoke to an itchy head which lead to the discovery of lice!!! yikes! we have no idea how she got them but it is no fun! she was very upset that she couldn't go to school (she loves school!) and to make it worse it was pajama day AND movie night at school. bummer! i have spent the past day and a half washing clothes, vacumming, cleaning everything in sight. an early spring cleaning on my part. :) as of today she looks great!! when all the cleaning is done, then our spring break can begin! woohoo!!!

happy birthday grandma!

today we celebrated my grandma's 90th birthday. her birthday isn't until the 13th but we had a party for her today. all the grandkids and great-grandkids were there to wish her well. with all the people that kept coming in and out of her house, she's probably glad to finally have some peace and quiet tonight! ha! ha! here's to another year!

scrap weekend

last week nikki and i went to our 4th scraptacular getaway. this is our concord hilton vacation!
our weekend was full of scrapbooking and laughter. we had a great time as usual. i really loved the restful sleep i got in the amazing hilton beds! here's a cute little album i made in a class.
of the 4 times i have gone to the scrap weekend, this was my most productive one yet! i completed 16 pages!! yeah, i know that might not seem like much for 2 1/2 days of cropping but if you know me...that's HUGE!! ha!
